We say "ir A" when we go to a place or to a profesional:
Examples:

El lunes voy al (a+el) médico.
El martes voy a hacerme un análisis de sangre.
El miércoles voy a que me tomen la tensión.
El jueves voy a ir al hospital a ver a una amiga.
Tres veces al mes voy a radioterapia.

But we say "ir DE" when we go to do something actively:

En verano voy de vacaciones.
Los sábados por la tarde voy de merienda a casa de mi amiga.
Al final de curso vamos de excursión.
Me gusta ir de acampada con mis hijos.
Los domingos voy de juerga con mis amigos.
A veces voy de pesca con mi tío.
En Black Friday voy de compras.
Luego voy de paseo con mi novio.
No me quedo, voy de paso.
